These
Sarcoma Web Pages are intended for patients with sarcoma, the relatives
and friends of sarcoma patients, sarcoma care-givers and others interested
in sarcoma. The information presented includes: General definitions of
sarcoma; different types of sarcoma including sarcoma of connective tissues
( muscle and joints), bone sarcoma, uterine sarcoma, gastrointestinal sarcoma,
and miscellaneous sarcomas; how sarcoma is diagnosed; determining location
and spread of sarcoma; surgical treatment of sarcoma; radiotherapy for
sarcoma; and chemotherapy for advanced sarcoma. The resources available
for management of sarcoma at Columbia University's Herbert Irving Comprehensive
Cancer Center include a guide to conventional sarcoma therapy and new experimental
treatment options for sarcoma; pain and symptom control in sarcoma, and
psychosocial support for sarcoma patients. This sarcoma website is evolving,
and we would appreciate suggestions for making it more available and useful.
